{"id":6420,"date":"2024-11-02T12:28:44","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T08:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iccip.ir\/en\/?p=6420"},"modified":"2024-11-04T09:29:31","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T05:59:31","slug":"this-is-how-ai-is-impacting-and-shaping-the-creative-industries-according-to-experts-at-davos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iccip.ir\/en\/?p=6420","title":{"rendered":"This is how AI is impacting \u2013 and shaping \u2013 the creative industries, according to experts at Davos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the past few years,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2023\/11\/ai-word-of-the-year\/\">artificial intelligence has hit mainstream consciousness<\/a>&nbsp;as generative AI writing tools like ChatGPT and Claude.ai, and image generators like Midjourney and DALL-E became better and more broadly available. And people, companies, artists, musicians and even Hollywood studios, worked out how \u2013 or how not \u2013 to work with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In August 2022, Th\u00e9\u00e2tre D\u2019op\u00e9ra Spatial, an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/this-state-fair-changed-its-rules-after-a-piece-made-with-ai-won-last-year-180982867\/\">artwork made using Midjourney, controversially won an art competition<\/a>&nbsp;in the US for its creator Jason Allen, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proliferation of creative AI tools has ushered in urgent discussions over ethics, regulation and guardrails. The potential benefits of generative AI \u2013 such as augmented creativity and productivity gains \u2013 being weighed against the pitfalls, such as data privacy, copyright infringement and inaccuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This has also been accompanied by the rise of FOBO \u2013 or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2023\/12\/ai-fobo-jobs-anxiety\/\">\u2018fear of becoming obsolete\u2019<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 with more than a fifth of workers in the US worrying they might lose their jobs to emerging technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But research by the World Economic Forum shows AI will not only augment existing jobs, but will&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2023\/09\/jobs-ai-will-create\/\">create others in entirely new fields<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2024\/01\/artificial-intelligence-ai-innovation-technology-davos-2024\/\">AI \u2018as a driving force for the economy and society\u2019<\/a>&nbsp;was one of the key themes at the Forum\u2019s Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2024, where artists, musicians and content creators joined discussions on how to navigate a creative future with AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Generative AI and Hollywood<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May 2023, the Writers Guild of America went on strike over pay, with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/05\/05\/hollywood-writers-strike-wga-chatgpt-ai-terrifying-replace-workers\/\">concerns about AI coming to the fore<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June,&nbsp;<em>Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny&nbsp;<\/em>was released in cinemas, showing 80-year-old&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2023\/feb\/06\/de-ageing-on-screen-ai-artificial-intelligence-film\">Harrison Ford \u2018de-aged\u2019 with the help of an AI program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And in July, members of the US actors\u2019 union,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.co.uk\/article\/hollywood-actors-strike-ends-ai-streaming\">SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists)<\/a>&nbsp;went on strike for 118 days, with protections over AI being used to replace actors as the major sticking point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the Davos session&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/events\/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2024\/sessions\/workers-in-focus\/\">Workers in Focus<\/a>, SAG-AFTRA\u2019S Chief Negotiator, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, said AI \u201cwas a really important issue in our negotiations\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur members are going to be on the tip of the spear in this area, especially voice actors, because the technical requirements of using generative AI with voice only are easier, and that makes it faster and simpler to implement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to have a significant impact and presence on the creative industries in general and the television, film and videogames industries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild strikes combined&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/entertainment-arts-67613609\">cost the industry more than $6.5 billion<\/a>, but now an agreement has been reached, Crabtree-Ireland hopes other companies and industries can learn from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so important for us to remember that the decisions about the implementation of AI are not being made by AI, they\u2019re being made by humans.
