Dr. Mahdieh Shahrabi Farahani’s Speech in 700 years with Hafes, UNESCO House, Jun 11, 2025

Dr. Mahdieh Shahrabi Farahani, International Cooperation Manager of The soft Technology and Cultural Industries Park, was a lecture at the International Conference on 700 Years of Hafez.

This conference was held on June 11 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris with the presence of scholars and researchers from different countries of the world, and works related to Hafez were exhibited. Dr. Mahdieh Shahrabi gave a speech online on the topic of “The Concept of Spirituality from Hafez’s Perspective with an Emphasis on an Integrated Approach.”

This conference, which had speakers from different countries of the world, including Iran, was attended by professors such as Francis Richard (Professor of the University of Paris), Noor Ahmad Soltani (Professor of the University of the Netherlands), Farangis Sharifzadeh (Director of the Rudaki Language Institute of Tajikistan), and researchers from the fields of art, literature, and philosophy, focusing on Hafez.

Spirituality is considered the origin and nature of human beings, which has occupied a large part of the cradle and container of the mysticism of Hafez’s poems. In Hafez’s high school of thought, when a person is not earthly, although he lives on earth, his existential spirituality and his divine nature distinguish him from all beings, and for this reason Hafez chooses various ways of description.

In other philosophical and psychological texts, spirituality is defined empirically. Spirituality is the metaphysical nature of man, a nature whose creator is God and has no objective or apparent example. It is a mysterious, unknowable truth that gives a person a status and elevates him and, as it were, separates him from the earth. Spirituality is the same meaning of the ultimate human life that becomes meaningful by connecting to the earth, but it is not the whole world and matter and has a metaphysical nature.
